Movies: Mumbai Meri Jaan - Review

Meetu finds parallels between her own love for Mumbai and the characters in Mumbai Meri Jaan. Whereever in the world she has lived for the last 12 years, she has always called herself a Mumbaikar. The characters in the movie don't have such a romanticized view. Each of them goes through a phase of cynicism, but ultimately accepts their situation as is and joins the “spirit” of the city. However, she thinks that the movie itself is too slow to rate higher than "wait for video release"

Movies: Phoonk review

RGV dons new avatar. He’s now moved on to comedies. Ok, not 100% comedies because there are 2 strong serious scenes which put a plug on the most natural sounding laughter track playing in the audience

Movies: Singh is kinng - Review

Punjabi is queenn. Wit is Jack. Plot & logic are thrown out of the deck. So, the viewers are ace jokers! But, who am I to stop Akshay-Katrina fans from rushing to the theaters?

Movies: Mere Baap Pehle Aap - Review

A casual friendly relationship between dad and son could have worked if the movie were about 30 minutes shorter. Otherwise, it is the usual Priyadarshan fare.

Movies: Gul Panag - Interview

An excerpt - "I genuinely and firmly believe that my intelligence levels have dropped. It really has…I find it difficult to grasp basic things. Because intelligence is like a machine, your mind is like a machine, the less you use it, the less of it remains."

Movies: Sarkar Raj - Review

A treat for Bachchan fans and an intense story for the non-believers. If you are mentally prepared for that noise the background music creates and the camera being held in the weirdest possible positions and angles, you can actually enjoy the drama despite all its flaws.

Movies: The first half vs. second half disease in Bollywood

How often have you come out of the theater shaking your head in despair and saying/hearing, “the first half was good, but they completely @#$%&* it up after interval, man!!!” This is what I call the first half-second half syndrome. Read on for an analysis of this disease.

Movies: Bhoothnath

The first half-second half syndrome strikes again. Bhoothnath starts off with imaginative use of animation and has a cute, very enjoyable first half. The latter half not only makes you sorely miss all of it, but also replaces it with lectures (albeit short), a depressing attitude towards youth that go abroad for better prospects, and very avoidable religious connotations

Movies: Review - Shaurya

Shaurya dishes out a strong flavor of anti-fundamentalism with a negligible measure of sermons. That in itself is a rarity. While it might not rise up to the standards of "A few good men", it has its intense moments that work.

Movies: one two three - review

1 2 3: Skimpy dresses - 4. Funny lines - 5. Loud actors - way too many. This wannabe comedy takes a dive into slapstick torture of third degree.

Movies: Review - Race

A couple of not-so-unique yet brilliantly done action sequences and a few breathtaking aerial shots might make you want to watch in the theaters. But the acting, the merry-go-round plot twists, and the dialogues are barely average.

Movies: Review - Saawariya

An everyday love story is presented as a fairy tale. The lackluster dialogues, the amateurish acting, the unwarranted slow pace all add up to a tedious watch. The only saving grace is the music.
