LetsDiscuss: The new Hindu spirit!

This sounds more like Nilanjana Bose at CNN-IBN had no story to cover and she just made it up. But still interesting to read. And do you see this trend around you? "Being Hindu is not some thing that would throw you back to your grandparents but it is hip and showing that you are one is hipper nowadays."

LetsDiscuss: Indian astrology had never considered Pluto a planet

I am not satisfied by this claim that Indian astrology is superior since it never considered Pluto a planet. We can't be claiming credit for the astronomical body changing it's definition of a planet :-) Also in the Indian system, there were 7 planets (if you ignore Rahu and Ketu), so there still is a discrepancy to be explained.

LetsDiscuss: Energy from nothing! Not Again...

Do you remember the Ramar Pillai petrol from green leaf hoax years back in Tamilnadu. I was in Kerala then and the Malayali newspapers were quick to extol the virtues of Ramar, who was supposed to have had a scientific bent of mind! In what, con? Not again please! Ireland or wherever...

LetsDiscuss: For the maths buffs: Some Russian makes $1 million?

Some boring matehmatician (Dr. Grigori Perelman) solved another ancient mathetician's (Poincare's) conjecture. Who cares? But he could have just made a cool $1million. And to think the solution came out in 2004 and Economic Times puts it on front page today! Very slow work TOI ;-) (actually the solution has recently passed scrutiny) And here are 6 other ways to make a million dollars: http://www.claymath.org/millennium/
