Movies: Emraan Hashmi: RAAZ - TMC is disturbing, graphic and scary

After a hardcore drama JANNAT which proved to be a superhit at the box office, Emraan Hashmi promises that his next RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES will raise the bar for horror flicks. Not just would it give Indian audience something to see on the big screen that has never been witnessed before for a Bollywood flick, it would also scare the living daylights of all in the auditorium.

Movies: Bollywood box-office report of the week

With another another 'releaseless' week, it augurs well for the GHAJINI mania to continue (but more about that later) and also for the older release, Aditya Chopra's Shah Rukh Khan Super–hit, RAB NE BANA DI JODI.

Movies: Good, bad and ugly of animation movies in 2008

There were quite a few animation films that released in 2008. However, not even one of them turned out to be successful at the box office. ROADSIDE ROMEO at least stood out from animation point of view while JUMBO made waves due to Akshay Kumar factor. However, rest just fizzled completely hence putting a question mark on the future of animation films in India. Here is a low down on the performance of some of the most notable animation films which were unleashed to the audience in the year gone by. ROADSIDE ROMEO: If not for Yash Raj Films' practice of promoting their films to the minimal, ROADSIDE ROMEO could well have been the second Bollywood animation film to have worked with the audience after HANUMAN. While one or two have still been decent attempts at the least, the remaining have been plain shoddy.

Movies: The spirit of Christmas: Has it lost its relevance in Hindi films?

While the celebration of Christmas has attained egalitarian connotations in the country, the spirit of Christmas does not seem to be reflected with the same zeal in the Hindi films. As a matter of fact songs denoting the festivity spirit of Christmas are not to be heard for quite some time. This is inspite of the fact that there are accomplished players belonging to the Christian community who are literally whose who in the Hindi film genre, but they are also not able to chip in with a song denoting the festive spirit of Christmas.

Movies: Rohan Sippy: Akshay has brought his genius to CC2C

While RAB NE BANA DI JODI is already a Superhit and GHAJINI is on the way to become one, Bollywood is looking at a hat trick of big money spinners with Akshay Kumar bringing his CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA in three weeks from now. In a way it is quite deserving for Top–3 stars of the country to be giving back to back big hits, especially in the time when recession has impacted Bollywood too in a big way.

Movies: DOSTANA: The last of the Karan Johar brand!

All those who love the lavish song and dances, the typical Indian values and traditions, and the stuff that most NRIs feast on in the typical Karan Johar brand of cinema, are in for a major disappointment. The reason being that Karan has categorically stated that DOSTANA was the last of the Karan Johar stereotype film. And this has nothing do with the fact that DOSTANA was not as huge a success as Karan had expected it to be.

Movies: Farhan Akhtar: ROCK ON!! will be Arjun's DCH

Arjun Rampal is going through the best phase of his career. Not only is the hunk part of many successful films, but he is being recognized as a good actor too! He admits that his association and friendship with Shah Rukh Khan has had a very positive impact on his career and life. And that a small but effective role in DON–THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN was the turning point in his career. He followed it up with a superb performance (in a negative role) in OM SHANTI OM.

Movies: Neha Dhupia - Bye-bye to lead roles?

Neha Dhupia is certainly on a reinvention spree. She had two successful films to her name early this year in the form of MITHYA and SINGH IS KINNG. Now soon after the release of DASVIDANIYA, where she had a relatively smaller role to play though, she recently appeared in MAHARATHI. With the kind of films she is currently associated with, the ones where there isn't a conventional hero–heroine pairing, does it indicate bye–bye to lead roles?

Movies: RAB NE BANA DI JODI - Aiming for a long shot

Aah, one can finally heave a sigh of relief! Ever since the release of GOLMAAL RETURNS, Bollywood hadn't seen a single money spinner at the box office. Now after six weeks of outright drought, RAB NE BANA DI JODI has brought smiles back for all in the industry (well, leave or take a few who continue to be cynical about the film's success). As expected, the film opened to close to 50% start and started recording 100% collections as the evening shows commenced. Saturday and Sunday were even better in the morning and afternoon shows though houseful signs were seen once again in evening and night shows.

Movies: Akshay Kumar: Chinese stuntmen are way ahead of us

Akshay Kumar can't help but admire the stuntmen from China with whom he worked in close collaboration during his CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA shoot. He truly believes that they have mastered the art of action. Also, there is a lot that not just India but the world can learn from the Chinese when it comes to Kung Fu skills. "They are the best in the business and we all were in awe of them when we saw them contributing to CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA.

Movies: Aamir and Sunny tread the same path!

It was way back in 1990 when Aamir Khan's DIL released along with Sunny Deol's GHAYAL on the same day. Both the films belonging to totally different genres went on to become big hits. This was followed by Aamir Khan's RAJA HINDUSTANI and Sunny Deol's GHATAK releasing very close to each other in November 1996. Once again both the films went on to become hits, although Aamir's RAJA HINDUSTANI was the clear winner here.
