NDTV is revealing the Seven Wonders of India though voting. Sikkim is known for its tourism hub in the entire world. Sikkim is placed along with other North Eastern States and finds three representatives. The three selected wonders from Sikkim include Changu Lake, Tashiding Monastery and our Mountain deity Mt. Kanchenjunga. So vote and lets help our Sikkim be the pride of India.

It was sometimes back i was asked to make the set of around 30-40 questions that could be asked in a beauty contest! The person who visited me was a noted celebrity in his own right and a close friend to me, thou i did try to make him clear that i had not come across any such beauty contest and to collect the questions and to answer wasn't as easy as he had thought.

New Year and everyone remembers collecting New Year cards for their loved ones. In my case it is a different story, i do not recall when did i last received my new year card. Could be four years..or five years back or before....i believe over the years my loved ones had found it difficult to contact me so i better give my address to them. I hear people are earning enough from eBay but i find myself fortunate towards ebay....at-least i had that opportunity to come across those photographs. These old and rare photographs clicked during the British era catch old the picture of then Darjeeling. I share with you all these postcards.

So with Gitanjali Thapa, Sikkim finally presents a leading actress to the bollyhood cinema. When I first read about the news it was more than a joyous feel. Having seen Gitanjali grow from Myth to Tina Ki Chaabi, I believe this also gives an opportunity for any person who dares to give their dreams a wig of life.

Miscellaneous: Sikkim Mahinda Thero: A national hero of Sri Lanka

I first heard about S Mahinda Thero during 2005 while at Kolkata when I was asked by one of a stamp dealer whether I was interested on a 20 paise stamp of S Mahinda Thero issued by Sri Lankan Postal Department in early 1970s. I collect philatelic items on Buddhism but I never have the sense of hearing about the person who he was talking about. He told me, as I was from Sikkim so I might be interested to know more about the person and he went on to add it was Sikkim Mahinda Thero, a Buddhist monk who is regarded as a national hero, a famous poet in the Sinhalese language whose poetry promoted patriotism and the revival of Buddhism to this part of the Island. He promised to send me the stamp of S Mahinda Thero from Colombo through mail but since then I had never herad from him. But towards my limited concern it was enough to have knowledge of such person who is keeping the name Sikkim with honour and pride in Sri Lanka.

It came, it saw and it conqueror and the next edition of the thrilling mountain biking adventure in Sikkim are back. The stage for the 2nd Khanchendzonga Mountain Biking Expedition 2009 (Sikkim) organized by the Department of Tourism, Govt. of Sikkim is all set to kick off its 2009 track. Targeting Sikkim to be one of the best destinations for mountain bikers in South East Asia, the 2009 edition shall feature more than 100 participants from countries like US, UK, German, South Korea, NZ, Australia, Nepal and others while big contingent from Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indo Tibetan Border Police are also expected.
