imho there are two ways to look at it.
The children are losing innocence, immature minds are cluttered with so much information that they are commiting suicides, going into depression, getting anorexic etc etc.
But on point of view could also be the children are getting more exposure, they are reading, writing and talking at an earlier and moving up the maslow's hierarchy much faster, so going by that logic they are more likely to move towards self actualization.
What say srikaant?

Self actualization ..to me would come from internalisation..a going inwards. What may happen is that the outward processes may get so accelerated that inward journey would then get equally imperative..faster. in the days gone by..our forefathers were 'pahunche huye log'..and there was no innundation with information. Question is just how much of it do we need and how much is good for us? Like you said suicides, crime is increasing proportionately..

Definitely, i agree that there is an overload of information and proportionate increase in suicide and crime. I was proposing based on my association with ISKCON(not necessarily a great organization) A prabhuji from his experience told us that there is big trend in the west towards spirituality. He had concluded it was because, they had more to eat, enjoy and therefore had lost their appetite in worldly things. I think Osho also proposes a similary philosophy - bhoga se yoga tak. But i completely agree that things are probably going overboard.
He He one thing i love talking about is the Matrix. What if self actualization is just another step in the maslow's hierarchy and not the final step. Just like the neburchanedzza in the Matrix was a f/back loop.
