The harvesting time in Kerala is celebrated as the huge festival renowned as Onam. It is such an occasion when the people show their gratitude and devote their best and different offerings to the nature and God in regard of the nature's gift to them. Onam is celebrated as the grand festival from ancient time. During the ten days long celebration rich cultural heritage of Kerala emerges in its perfect frame. Like every other ancient and festival in India Onam also has a great historical background which follows a legend related to the King Mahabali who had once ruled over Kerala and his ruling years are counted as Golden era of Kerala. Apart from it the story goes like this that Mahabali who at that time won entire Earth, hell and heaven in a war with gods, later become the conspiracy of the Indra (The king of heaven) who asked the Lord Vishnu to get back his kingdom of heaven from Mahabali.
