As Marcello Lippi announced his provisional 29-man squad for this summer’s showpiece event in South Africa, there were a few shocks in store with regards to some notable absentees. Despite their electric form in recent weeks, there was no place for Palermo’s Fabrizio Miccoli or Sampdoria’s Antonio Cassano, according to SkySport. Inter’s troubled star Mario Balotelli has unsurprisingly missed the grade once again following his turbulent situation over the past fortnight.
