Tourists in Sikkim thronged at Sikkim Nationalised Transport (SNT) depot Monday morning, making anxious enquiries about means of transport to Siliguri which is under bandh.

hey sikkim but why were they stranded. didnt they had any plannin or reservation or some last moment strike took place. anyways it is too bad as it spoils the reputation of the country and i think the govt shoul immediately take some action to serve them...

With the on going strike all the route outside sikkim via darjeeling, kalimpong and siliguri had been closed down.

well i as there at siliguri on the day of the fight....the fight took off when policemen started hitting the women in the procession. It is heard the strike shall go for 60 days,

hey have the policemen lost it? I mean why did they attacked the women? was there a strong reason for that? were the women protesting against any policy? Now wat abt the tourists? are they feeling safe or they are not properly looked after....

I have not heard abt this news anywhere in the media... did any media personnel turned to cover the story or it is not given the importance it deserves... inform me as I really want to know abt the strike and its details....

oh oh sad to hear that even in this democracy today ppl are fughtin each other on the basis of caste....who is the govt supporting and u didnt informed me abt the tourists. are they from our country or foreign country and wat has happened to them now???

most of the tourist are from West Bengal itself....as well as others part of Inda.there are many foreign tourist too.It was pity to watch ppl climbing on trucks and whatsoever vehicle they are getting just to get out of the site.

the situation was worsen....today from 6pm onwards there is indefinite strike in Drjeeling districts demanding the statehood of Gorkhaland.

the separate state of gorkhaland is for the people of Darjeeling districts. They belong to nepali community and they want a seperate identity for them.

hmmm so they are demanding Gorakhland from sikkim as a different state, but u told that bengalis were also there in the conflict so how come they are there? and now is there a bandh or something or things are workin in sikkim???

Gorkhaland from West Bengal......They want separate state for Darjeeling districts that falls in West Bengal.The National Highway is through Siliguri and due to bandh Sikkim is cut off.

ya I heard that in the news yesterday that Sikkim was cut off from the rest of the world..... so it means that no one can enter the state and neither can anyone leave the state as I think the transportation is only stopped..... how come you are able to write.... is internet connection not cut off????

there is 60hrs relaxation on the bandh from Darjeeling and from tomorrow morning at 6am the bandh restarts and this time it could be more violent.
