News: Nepali sherpa sets new climbing record on Everest

A Nepali sherpa climbed the world's highest peak for the 18th time on Thursday, improving his own record set last year, a hiking official said. Apa Sherpa, 48, reached the 8,850-metre summit of Mount Everest by the Southeast Ridge route, first used by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953. "This is a record-breaking climb," said Ang Tshering Sherpa, chief of the Asian Trekking Agency that sponsored Apa's climb. Apa was accompanied by another sherpa and dozens of other climbers who scaled the world's highest peak on Thursday.

    this is really a great achievement. I think this man has made the country proud and he should be honoured not only by the country but the world.
