Unfortunately, in India, national security is often viewed as an unpleasant and unnecessary intrusion into and against national development.     well u r rite..nobody would care till fire reaches one's home...i was shocked to listen to our army chief giving explanation that chinese plane had intruded but it was bcoz of difference in perception..if we would have intruded , our plane would have been brought down by chinese.

      You have said something so logical. That is why our planes don't intrude. And theirs do.

      We also have to consider the reality that china is a stronger millitary power than us and we can not afford to have a conflict with them. Wat say?

    @namless ... yes china is strong militarily but that doesnot mean we cannot make them bend their ways..china trade has increased many folds in India.. india-china trade has surprassed indo-us trade..if product get hits in india , china news websites put it in it..but basic attitude is wrong..being shanti priya and being afraid are two different things..during 1960 when china had taken away few land , nehru had said "but its barren'. 2 yrs later they attacked..

    Who is responsible for letting them become that much stronger? Who is responsible for not doing anything to alter that balance despite the experience of 1962?

      i agree billupa its we who are responsible, so we need to get around the problem strategically because current reality is that we are weak. For example pisean made a good point about trade, china needs markets like india. But i agree we need to do something about china.
