Friendship Day is celebrated each year on the first Sunday in August. In 2011 it will be celebrated on 7 August. The next day the apartment was declared by the U.S. Congress in 1935. The occasion started as a small event to celebrate the relationship shared by friends. Today, it has taken the form of a big festival. Gone are the days when holidays like Friendship Day was limited to the West.
