im a big fan of harry potter but none d less i hv watched all mythological serials on tv in my childhood....
thngs hv changed a gr8 deal....how many ppl kw of hanuman,who is not an indian..a few.may b coz v hv not tried it tht hard...how many movies have been made on mythological epics..which can hv such an impact n r backed by international markrting..none.....y do v hv to compare harry potter to sumthng which is part of our religion.How many movies hv been made on bible...how many of us hv actually read bible...again none....so v r just comparing the uncomparables!!n evry indain child kws of hanuman for sure....n d indian super hero Krish:))as pointed by herschel!!

yes I agree comparing Harry Potter who is a worldwide hero with our mythological characters is not correct, these characters dont have global appeal and for that matter there would be and definitely are many such charaters and figures specific to each country.
But then the point is that even the films made on local characters gain or are able to spin that much as they should. Recently released Ganesha had reviews that pointed out that the movie was not up to the mark, I think rather than comparing with Harry Potter's popularity, more imp is to achieve perfection and making sure that ever lasting impact is made on those little impressionable minds and not just that the movie is enjoyed by each and everyone in the family!
