Movies: Censor Board bans Rann's title track

Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused permission to the makers of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Rann to air the controversial song based on the National Anthem. The Censor Board reviewed the film's promo and decided to refuse permission under guideline 219 of Section 5 (b)2 of Cinematograph Act as well as Prevention of insult to National Honour Act 1971, said Vijaya Chawak, Secretary to the CBFC chairperson Sharmila Tagore. She also said the tune of the national anthem cannot be played around with and distorted.When contacted, Rann producer Sheetal Talwar said the promo was submitted to the CBFC a few days ago and they have not been informed officially about the CBFC's decision. They will decide our future course of action after hearing from the Censor Board. The song Jana Gana Mana Rann hai, Is Rann mein Zakhmi Hua hai Bharat ka Bhagya vidhata is based on the tune of the National Anthem.
