I was not born when Sikkim became the 22nd State of Indian Union and the only thing I came to learn about the political identification of my Sikkim are from the certain literary knowledge and talks with the elderly people. I personally believe no nation can be developed until and unless its history, culture and heritage are preserved. Sikkim though is now part of India but it is the responsibility of every Sikkimese to look after its past glory too.

    hey Sikkim has got a huge history behind it and that too an interesting one..... i think it has transformed from the monarchy rule by the kings and queens to democracy....

    but what do the ppl feel is better..... monarchy or democracy.....

    Sikkim was once a monarchy form of government. Also Sikkim is the last princely add in Indian Union. I do feel the way Sikkim was annexed was not a happier one but more than 30 years later people have now getting acclimatized being called an Indian.

    hey but why weren't they happy.... i can understand that it takes time for ppl to adjust to new environment but then i still sometimes feel that they want to get separated from India....

    pls correct me if i am wrong....

    When the last king of Sikkim died in USA, he was a defeated man...with his wife deserting him and his own kingdom no more with him

    oh!!!! thats so sad to hear..... but then do the ppl have a feeling of belonging towards the country or they have just adjusted grudgingly.....
