Miscellaneous: Questioning the existence of Ram Sethu
Though no evidence exists to prove that the Adam's Bridge or Ram setu , a natural formation of sand and stones between India and Sri Lanka is a bridge built by Lord Ram and his army of monkeys, yet political leaders are all set to present the picture in that direction hampering the canal project which could save ships thousands of miles! I know I might be evoking religious sentiments here, but come to think of it is it progressive to stop innovations on mere beliefs which couldnt be supported by any evidence?

Well we have been born and brought up reading and being taught stories from Ramayana, how can we just like that ignore and do away with our religious sentiments?
I think its not just about belief its about culture. Ask the Jews to give away Palestine - would they? Ask the americans if they would legalise abortions. I think some issues are best left untouched. Tommorrow if we find some evidence of Ram's existence wont we regret pulling down the sethusamudram. I think they should have a committee to evaluate if its a man made structure or natural formation or find a way to not hurt the formation.

However due to the holocaust and Jewish influence.On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly voted 33 to 13, with 10 abstentions, in favor of a Partition Plan that created the State of Israel. The British reliquished their mandate over Palestine in 1948. War broke out between the Arabs and Jews soon after.
I agree Jews had been persecuted by Nazis and should have been given something to call their own - but they were not persecuted by Arabs.
However since Im not an authority on the subject what Im just trying to point out is that the establishment of the state of Israel was seen by Christian Zionists as a sign that God was fulfilling his promises to Abraham and Jacob.
When the whole world respects religious beliefs in international affairs what's wrong with India respecting the beliefs of the majority. And surely that SethuSamudram project could be built in a way that it does not harm the natural formation. Im sure that can be done.
On No 2 raised by you, Abortion is not the best option usually however there are some real scenarios where abortion can be a necessity. Down's babies who do not survive for more than a few years and can be detected in screening before delivery. There are a lot of congenital defects which can be identified before 3 months. Do you think its right for a mother to give birth to a child who is a Down's baby and risk her life in the process?

If we follow the guidelines by you, then we Indians can't have our own country called Republic of India! Isnt it?

Secondly, coming back to the history of Israel, it was ruled / inhabitated by the Jews for about 3000 years before it fell to Babylonians, Assyrians, Persians and Romans, and there after it fell for the Islamic Conquests, nevertheless Jews presence was always there.
If you don't believe me, I shall request you to make a complete search on the topic, because this is what the Historians tell.
May be Wikipedia / Google Books would be a better place to start with, even I shall be happy to do a good reading on the aspect if time permits.

Even in India, most of the abortions were either to achieve female feoticide or to 'hide' the results of some 'lustfilled moments'.
As a matter of fact, most of the abortions are done for purely pseudo-secular 'socio-economical' reasons and NOT for the sake of the health or life of a woman.
Finally, as far as Sethu Samudram is concerned, whether it was built by Ram or Ravan, it is definitly a complicated question of the Emotions of the people v/s Cost of Global Warming v/s Economic aspects v/s Cost of ecosystem at Palk Strait, which could be sorted out by agreement by all the concerned delegates involved.
