Northeast India suffered a severe earthquake earlier in the day – 18 September, 2011 at 12:40:48 UTC – measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale. At least 25 people have died and over 100 injured after a 6.8 earthquake hit Sikkim Sunday night. The authorities fear that the toll could rise further.
