LetsDiscuss: Sixth pay comission to submit report in 2008

The Sixth Pay Commission report for central government employees and armed forces personnel is expected to be submitted by April 2008, Rajya Sabha was told. Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, Minister of State for Defence Pallam Raju said the three services have submitted a joint memorandum to the Commission seeking increase in pay scales, enhancement of existing allowances and introduction of new allowances among other things.

    According to a report, the income tax officials have sought salaries at par with corporate sector from the Sixth Pay Commission in their presentation to justify an unprecedented growth of around 40% in direct tax collections and to have the best minds in public sector.

    Seems like a great idea to make govt. salaries at par with private. But this should be coupled with equivalent hire/fire policy to make sure that govt. employees are on their toes and contributing equally to the economy

      I second you nameless wanderer, govt employees simply have no fear. In fact some PSUs have policies which are quite strict just hope that the state governments wake up too...
