LetsDiscuss: SWAT: Diary of a Pakistani schoolgirl

Often when we read about the Talibanisation of an area(Afghanistan first and Pakistan now)we are unable to grasp the full extent of how it affects the lives of those living in those areas. Here are excerpts from the diary of a girl living in Pakistan's Swat region.I found it on a Pakistani blogzine.

Its really horrible. . . The first thing QURAN talks about is to IQRA (study, learn and gain knowledge and wisdom). Then how the hell they can do like this and justify their acts? . . . . As i am always saying, just because of few people like them, the entire community is suffering worldwide

shaan, in India they are definitely few people but outside, especially in trouble spots, they are not that small. The question is how do they get so well funded so as to take over whole countries? and 2)why are the larger number of muslims not speaking out strongly against them. How and why is the good voice being allowed to drown?

Same goes for Hindus. We need to be vocal against the rabble rousers like the Mangalore trouble makers so that the larger voice of our religion does not get drowned out....ever.

In the case of Afghanistan, it was America who started giving them money and weapons. And now i think, these outfits are getting help from Arab countries. . . And muslims in India are always protesting but not on a huge scale. But this time on the occasion of EID, they protested by wearing black ribbons and organised rallys in Delhi. . . . Honestly speaking, according to my point these protest cant do much. See these terrorists and extremists from any religion are not that good that you will stop them just by these types of protest. They will get no harm and will be laugh on us. . . Thats all. . For me, that Against The Terrorism concept at Taj Hotel was a joke. What is the benefit of that?. . Kya isse terrorists dar gaye ya sudhar gaye?. . . Nothing. . . Its not Gandhi ji's time where you can do something by protesting. . . PROTEST WORKS ONLY WHEN YOU ARE DOING THAT IN A WAY TO CAUSE HARM. . . Otherwise just by shouting on road against terrorists, MNS, BAJRANG DAL, IM will not gonna work. . . It will just make them laugh that how we are wasting our time on them

so if not protests, then what? What can the govt in India do to counter this threat coming 1)from pak 2) some groups within India?

USA did mess up with Pakistan but they also played along to milk aid and weapons to arm against India. In a strange irony now those very weapons and people(taliban) that they trained are destroying their society.Sad really.People ae paying the price for their leader's(army and ISI) policies.

Dear i was talking about protests from common public. Its of no use against extremists. . .Government must consider some strong and effective steps against these outfits but the must care about that innocent people should not get involved in all this as many incidents of fake encounters and harassing innocent people are coming out

Easier said than done I think. The govt in India is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't.Our 60 years of messing up politics with vote banks and interest groups has wa=eakened us internally. We see a conspiracy in everything,a harrassment in every act.........all communities suffer from this malaise. We need to be beter citizens and then vote in a better govt too.......a federal agency is required to handle all terrorists acts in anon partisan way.

You are right that we people are having itch to find conspiracy in everything. . . But still there are some incidents which are real and we cant ignore it. . . Other thing is that as you said we need a federal agency for all these terrorists acts then what is the guarantee that it will not work under the pressure of working government and vote bank politics. . . . We people are deeply corrupt dear

its not that funny dear and its not that difficult also....

the only thing that can be done is stop blowing the trumpet of Human Rights and start punishing them left right and center.....

    then lets see the effect....
