Now lemme put the final comments........

According to the ancient Hindu scriptures, there are four "varnas." The Bhagavad Gita says varnas are decided based on Guna and Karma. Manusmriti and some other shastras mention four varnas: the Brahmins (teachers, scholars and priests), the Kshatriyas (kings and warriors), the Vaishyas (traders), and Shudras (agriculturists, service providers, and some artisan groups). Offspring of different varnas belong to different Jātis. Another group excluded from the main society was called Parjanya or Antyaja. This group of former "untouchables" (now called Dalits) was considered either the lower section of Shudras or outside the caste system altogether. Passages from scriptures such as Manusmriti indicate that the varna system was originally non-hereditary.

Traditionally, although the political power lay with the Kshatriyas, historians portrayed that the Brahmins as keepers and interpreters of religion enjoyed much prestige and many advantages.

The Dalits, or the people outside the varna system, had the lowest social status. The Dalits, earlier referred to as "untouchables" by some, worked in what were seen as unhealthy, unpleasant or polluting jobs. In the past, the Dalits suffered from social segregation and restrictions, in addition to extreme poverty. They were not allowed temple worship with others, nor water from the same sources. Persons of higher castes would not interact with them. If somehow a member of a higher caste came into physical or social contact with an untouchable, the member of the higher caste was defiled, and had to bathe thoroughly to purge him or herself of the impurity. Social discrimination developed even among the Dalits. Upper sub-castes among Dalits, like dhobi, nai etc., would not interact with lower-order Bhangis, who were described as "outcasts even among outcastes".

Many Indian matrimonial websites and matrimonial columns in Indian newspapers contain caste-based categories and matrimonial advertisements frequently state the caste as a criterion of choice

The modern view is caste-based reservations should be based on the individual's personal economic status, as there are now many Dalits who are more wealthy and more educated than forward castes but still benefit from caste-based reservations and other government advantages, which is seen as unfair & discriminatory against forward castes. Many view the only realistic solution to these problems of unfairness is caste-based reservations should being based on the individual's personal economic status not on their caste, social background or cultural heritage.

The post of temple priest in some Hindu temples is reserved only for a Brahmin caste male. Although, the appointment of a temple priest is completely subjective and these temples may accept anyone else if they have proper training, post of temple priest, so that any person belonging to any caste can become a priest & claim legal redress if he/ she is denied the post in spite of 'educational/ training' qualifications (i.e, if caste is used as a reason to discriminate).

So from my point of it should be removed from every where, why only education system ?

Becoz of our purvaz they enjoyed and maintained the upper status…now @ present situation altered now feel like dalit from govt view and Dalit has become Brahmin status enjoying all benefits…..

Karma is karma the way you work , in a same way you get points… Good hai..

Hey niten thats really hard hitting comment. Kudos, you are right on target and I suggest we should have karma points associated with each one based on their deeds. And your qualification for any post should be determined by karma points :-) cant help adding that being such a rambhai addict. And Niten you should get 10 karma points for your comment, excellent.

well i dont agree with u niten...y shud thr be reservations for SC/ST/OBC...if ppl r gud enough y not offer them a seat on merit basis...give them financial support if the fees is not affordable.but this is denying others of their rights...they work hard for the whole yr and then u give them this.!!

Good humours way to tell about reservations.. First, sign such that there is reservation in our cricket team. We should have 30% reservation for players of OBC & SC/ST classes. Pehle, Cricket rules should be modified. The 'actual' boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The 4 runs hit by an OBC or SC/ST player should be considered as a 6 and a 6 should be treated as 8 runs. If any player (of Resv. sector) scores 60 runs, it should be considered as a century. We should ask ICC to make some new rules for our players so that bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar & Bret Lee should not bowl fast balls to our OBC or SC/ST player. Bowlers should NOT bowl at a speed more than 80 km per hour to these players. Any delivery above this speed should be treated No-ball. Or they could be given an extra chance to bat if they were out by the opponent (2nd life?).

Also we should have reservation for such players in Olympics too. For instance, in the 100 meters race, an OBC or SC/ST player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters and wins the race. Let there be reservation in ALL the fields. Let’s recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians - that can really help the country. Ensure that only SC/ST or OBC doctors do the operations for our patriotic ministers and other politicians.

@krazy/just2impressu/shuchi - On rambhai there is no quota apart from your daily submission quota. That quota keeps on increasing with your age on rambhai and your karma(good deeds voting comment and posting) We are proud to say we are fair to one and all, irrespective of their caste creed and colour. Internet is such a great leveller. So keep posting, there is unlimited equal opportunity on rambhai :-)

Hye Guys Fyi......... wht do you mean by quota..actually...

  • Avatar | written by garfield79 1491 days ago Rating: 0 | Rate comment: + -

By the way, hindu scriptures have been turned and twisted to suit their objectives by the higher class over the centuries. ISKCON is one organization where a person is treated on merit, you dont need to be a brahmin by birth to be a priest there, you just need to have qualities of a tru brahmin (intelligence, devotion and justice)

@garfield79, Hey Mate....I'm very neutral on this subject but need to put in right way...was my objective. thnx anyways :)

well, i could see, now all are against quota and reservation, And so it is very healthy for our nation, by not considering the reservation....
