    So?? I still hate MS.

Network hacks are so different from OS Hack. From what I perceive from the text it has to be a network hack where the hackers most probably exploited some loop hole in existing protocols.

But Kudos to you! It was quite an interesting read. Quite informative too. This article is very much in the spirit of Rambhai.

I think this should have been in Tech. And I agree with angel that this is in the spirit of Rambhai. MSFT is bad because its not only less secure(This is the first time I have heard of Red Hat getting hacked) but because its a huge resource hog and has a really terrible version for home users. And yes it looks like Fedora servers were hacked into so its a network hack not an OS vulnerability.

The question was or has never been that MSFT is perfect or not, rather the attitude of almost all the X family Admins (Unix, Posix, Linux etc etc) is that they really never see Windows as a dignified OS and thats what bothers people like me who have been 'brought up' on MSFT.

And Garfield have you ever tried to install Open Solaris or even Solaris 10?? You will be surprised to know how resource hungry Solaris is... Hence its not only Windows that is resource hungry but rather any Server OS that really needs to run reliably is Resource Hungry and MSFT is no different.

Downed Angel: I beg to differ over here that it was a Network Hack, a Networok Hack generally doesnt allow any hacker to get the Source Code or Any information with in that is flowing through it very easily (unless Red Hat had a very lousy Network Security) and hence its more convincing that the Hackers hit Red Hat right below its belt where it hurts the most i.e. Server hosting the Codes itself!!

wdm2a - let me raise an exception here :) MSFT hogs resource in your XP home laptop also, not only as server software. Solaris is meant strictly as server software. Ever used Ubuntu or Gentoo on your home laptop - well neither have I just never got around doing it but ive heard the results are amazing.

hey wdm2a - ill fight a bit for downed.angel also - what has happened here is that hackers have been able to get into the system and use the private key of Fedora to sign some software and then release on worldwide web. Most probably the software is a trojan which hapless people would assume is coming from Fedora.

One more thing - you are right solaris is on the way out, however there are so many linux warriors to take its place. RedHat,Fedora,Ubuntu,Gentoo,FreeBSD - how will MSFT keep fighting them. Do you know Mac OS is written on FreeBSD? So even though MSFT would hog all the commercial market linux will be the best thing for your computer.
