LetsDiscuss: How to be successful at Rambhai.com
Hello, for those of you who are not aware of www.rambhai.com , it is a social bookmarking website powered by pligg.
Well I joined this website and this great friendly community about two months ago, my main reason to join was to promote bollytheater, a blog that I used to have. Two months back I just cared about getting 12 votes per story(you need 12 votes for it to be featured on homepage). Therefore I used to share my page's link with my instant messaging friends, and used to plead them to vote for my stories.
Now just couple days back a friend of mine asked me to give him the link so he can vote for my stories, so I do as he wished. The next momment he gave me smilies representing how shocked he was to see rizzy(my user name) everywhere. The next momment he asks me "How were you able to get such success at Rambhai? I found this question an interesting one and thought why not write an entry on it.
Following are five ways to be successful on rambhai.
1. Only submit interesting content. Try to avoid submitting movie links, and download torrents. And when you submit, submit a detailed entry.
2. Commenting is the biggest attribute you need in order to become a leader at rambhai. Make sure you comment on each and every single story of yours. Do no say" check this story out". You have already read the submitted story so why not give your own opinion or ocmment on it. This will mean a discussion under the story/blog/url you are promoting. And trust me, there are enough leaders on this site who are always looking to discuss. Comment on other people's stories as well. Join discussions others are discussing upon and give your say on it. Let me make it easier to understand, see rambhai as a forum in which you share and discuss.
3. Vote. Vote for other's stories. Try to follow two or three people that you always follow on that site and always vote upon their stories. This way you will most likely guarantee those couple votes to your story. My recommendation is, choose one leader's stories that you vote upon, and chose a couple or several not so popular people, because that would mean you have support from both the popular people and the newbies of this site.
4. Make relationships. Be mature on this site, don't be a jerk, and behave well, even comfort a few users. Randomly give a comment like " I love your blog" or "damn your blog have a nice look" or "you always submit nice stories" on someone's story. This way you will have them voting for your stories, visit your blog, thank on your stories, and whenever someone comments it is most likely to end up in a discussion.
5. Get your story published. If you do all of this, you will most definitely have each and every story of your submissions published.

I think Rambhai.com has established itself and has some great leaders running this website. I think the vote required for a story to be published should now stretch to 20, or should we wait for a few more leaders to come. Guys if you think I am just out of my mind, well let me back up my suggestion. Sure Januram has always been active, but he just now started commenting, and so many others like sara, and more, I know it is just a slight lift but hey didn't more people blend themselves into rambhai. And more votes mean, more hard work for leaders like denny, rizzy, shaan, j2u, garfield, and rsk and even more, to actually vote for stories, while voting for stories we give visit to other sites, and that makes the person who posted happy, and if you get lucky and denny or shaan comes across your story means at least 20 comments, which means ur story is going to have heat for a preety long time, well not that long cause these hyper actives will post a 100 comments in one hour and ur post will go down again, but isn't it more activity? So shouldn't everyone including th owner of this site be happy. I really don't know why pligg site owners do not recommend this, because this means more activity, more jaan lagani in ur pligg site, which means more impressions on ur ads and even a few clicks.
I mean, suppose if i want to vote for a story, my vote will 7+, instead i should have power to vote the story as 5 or 3 like that. this facily should be extended for only 5+ karma users to avoid mess up. We will be then first in the world to have such facility.
oh i see you mean to say, some sort of points you want to give. Very interesting, hope rambhai team is noticing this idea. Actually I think there are sites like these which let you rate an article on a scale. Voting is much simpler you just decide whether you liked what you read. Kind of like we are all in an editorial board, which collectively decides what can be published.

This is an amazing tutorial. Well written Rizzy. As a founder of Rambhai, I convey the Rambhai teams appreciation of the depth to which you have gone here.

@ Sreekanth I agree with all of what you said and your concern of us exploring the Queue section. But I am highly disappointed of you telling us how to comment. We can comment however we wish to comment. I say that because I think you are saying that we shouldn't comment in pieces, and we should only consider giving detailed comment. That disappoints me, because as a founder of Rambhai you should be proud of us giving small comments here and there and making this community really an open source community.
Hey Rizz - imho Sreekanth didnt mean that. He meant was say things that are really on your mind rather than run of the mill stuff. But i would leave it to sreekanth to clarify...

I think you got me wrong. My comment was not to tell you anything. My comment was in general addresses to everyone to promote what we feel are important for the site.
And i certainly didn't mean we discourage small comments. Not sure why you thought so :-)
I guess garfield has put it in the right way.
By Zara Hatke we mean we encourage hatke content, that's all. It has nothing to do with detailed comments as against small comments :-)

Ultimate rizzy, hats of to you. And, now i came to know that sreekanth and rambhai are one and the same. I think rizzy like research and done it well.
But rizzy, you were mentioned that you were asking ur friends to vote for ur story. But, in rambhai, anonymous votes will not be counted. just refresh and check it.

Because I think I forgot to add do not complain, demand anything from rambhai leaders, and other such things. and another thing i wanted to add was wt kind of tags you should add so you get more rambhai eyeballs on your sories and your profile. and i need your suggestions on this as well, either here or on my blogspot. I will like it if you give my blog a visit and post a suggestion there.
