"It was a silly and completely insensitive thing to say and, obviously, it was never supposed to be heard over the air," Jones said. I can't believe that instead of apologising unconditionally, he is actually cribbing about the fact that it was heard on the air!!

    Though what Jones said is not acceptable but he might be correct in saying that he never expected it to be heard on air because in the past also there have been instances when a commentator remarked something which he thought that would not be heard because of an ad-break in between but it went on air...!!!Check this link
