Portugal, August 17, 2011: Looking for information on Liquidation Sale at Sahara. The much-famed Sahara hotel and casino closed its doors to public on May 16, 2011. The Moroccan-themed casino on Las Vegas strip hosted several concerts and guests including Don Rickles, Johnny Carson, Rat Pack, and Sonny & Cher. The hotel became very famous after it was featured in the movie “Ocean’s eleven.” This postwar hotel operated for 59 years on the northern side of the Las Vegas strip and the decision of closure came after the three years of recession when the running of the hotel and online casinos became economically unviable.
Sahara was introduced to the gambling world by Milton Prell way back in 1952. In 1961, the hotel was acquired by Dell Webb making the Webb’s company the first to own a casino on Las Vegas Strip. The hotel changed its ownership in 1980s and 1990s again. Finally in 2007 the hotel ownership came in hands in Sam Nazarian and Stockbridge Real Estate Group. The casino with 1720 guest rooms and faux camels at the doors was undoubtedly a hit.
The decision of closure came with a liquidation sale for the casino managed by the National Content Liquidators so that it’s possible to sell off all the assets. Everything in this legendary hotel and casino including the Fox leather camels and its roulette wheels are being auctioned. The camels and chandelier happened to be among the costliest items and are put on sale at $12,000 and $13,000 approximately. Historical photographs and autographed pictures of celebrities are also on sale and are attracting many buyers. In fact, there are a number of other hotels on the Las Vegas strip looking to buy supplies from the hotel’s restaurants. The closure of the hotel has sparked nostalgic reflections and many people are picking up Sahara emblem marked gaming chips and playing cards as souvenirs. The sale of all the items takes place daily between 7 AM and 5 PM and it will continue until every item is sold off.
The closure is not only sentimental; it is remorseful for the employees of hotel and casino. But, Nazarian has not ruled out the possibility of reopening this property at a later date and has also promised to help Sahara employees find new jobs.
The legendary Sahara Hotel and Casino happens to be the last places to close shop at the Las Vegas strip. The recession has brought an end to reign of almost all the old giants. Possibility of new companies taking over is also high. But, historians and experts believe that the Sahara Hotel & online Casinos will surely be remembered as one of the favorite and best casino that ever existed in Las Vegas strip.
